Registration available for Snow Fest 2010 starting Nov. 6
Registration is available for Aliso Viejo residents starting Saturday, November 6 for a fun-filled holiday event that will transform a pristine park into a winter wonderland complete with snow.
The City's Snow Fest takes place on Saturday, November 20 at Grand Park, 26703 Aliso Creek Road. The holiday event will take place in three sessions - from 10:05 a.m. to 11:05 a.m.; 11:25 a.m. to 12:25 p.m.; and 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Visitors will enjoy the Grand Mountain (long run), Bunny Hill (short run) and Snow Man Park for youngsters 5 and under. Along with tons of snow, the event will feature refreshments and music. Renaissance ClubSport will provide cocoa and cookies and the Aliso Viejo Public Library will provide a craft.
The entrance fee is $5 per person. Participants are encouraged to bring mittens and dress for snow. The City will supply sleds and saucers. No pets or outside sleds/saucers or snow equipment allowed.
Pre-event registration is required for all snow areas, as no tickets will be sold at the event. Aliso Viejo residents will have priority registration on Saturday, November 6 from 8:30 a.m. to noon and on Monday, November 8 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Open registration for residents and non-residents will be held on Tuesday, November 9 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., if space is available. Registration takes place at City Hall, 12 Journey, Suite 100.

Tickets are available for the 4th Annual Taste of Aliso Niguel High School on Saturday, October 23.
The fun-filled event is from 6 to 10 p.m. at The Summit Office Campus, south of the 101 Enterprise Building in Aliso Viejo. Event proceeds will support the 3,000 students, activities and facilities at Aliso Niguel High School (ANHS).
The Taste of Aliso Niguel High School is an evening of unlimited food tastes from 20-plus local restaurants, drinks, impressive live music from local musicians, and hundreds of silent auction items - perfect gifts for any occasion. The fabulous evening out is designed for adults only (must be 21 years old) to meet and greet old and new friends.
The Allen Family Automotive Group and Renaissance ClubSport are the presenting sponsors. Organizers say ANHS students and families appreciate the support from all the businesses and individuals in the surrounding communities.

Make plans for the Aliso Viejo Community Association's Fall Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 23 at Grand Park.
The event, which takes place from 10 a.m. to noon at the park near Aliso Viejo Town Center, will feature family games; pony rides; arts and crafts; balloon twisters; entertainment; and much more.
A costume parade begins at 10:30 a.m., and visitors to the festival are encouraged to wear their spookiest, most animated costumes and walk in the parade.
Along with participating in a host of fun activities, people can also contribute to a good cause by bringing three canned-food items that will be distributed to the needy. Participating in the canned-food drive could also result in winning a prize through an opportunity drawing.

Popular band headlines 5th annual Founder's Day Fair September 25
Open Wide, a popular rock 'n' roll band, will headline Aliso Viejo's 5th annual Founder's Day Fair on Saturday, September 25 at the Aliso Viejo Ranch, 100 Park Avenue.
Serving up tunes that cater to the masses, the Southern California band offers an eclectic blend of rock performed with talent and zeal.
The City's annual fair, which takes place from noon to 6 p.m., transforms the 7-acre Aliso Viejo Ranch back to its California ranching roots with an old barn, bunkhouse and lots of history. Visitors to the fair will enjoy a day at the ranch with live entertainment, a water balloon launch and dunk tank; giant slide; climbing wall; games; demonstrations; gold panning; pony rides; delectable fare for purchase; and much more. Admission is free.
Local non-profit organizations are invited to provide food or activity booths during the popular event that attracts people of all ages. Space is limited and booths are filling up fast. The City is also seeking local community talent to showcase. Groups and individuals interested in performing and non-profits interesting in hosting a booth should contact Kristin at kolsen@cityofalisoviejo.com.

Movie night at the Aquatic Center this Thursday

Several people cast their votes to see "Finding Nemo" during the Aliso Viejo Aquatic Center's Movie Night Thursday, Aug. 26. The City facility asked residents to choose their favorite family-friendly flick from a list of 10 by e-mail or posting their choice to the Aliso Viejo Aquatic Center (AVAC) Facebook page. The beloved animated film received the most votes out of the nearly 50 people who weighed in.
The evening, which blends a night at the movies with a dip in the pool, kicks off at 7:00 p.m. at the resort-style facility located at 29 Santa Barbara. The Oasis Cafe will be open to 7:30 p.m. providing a host of delectable snacks to enjoy during the G-rated film.

Join in with family, friends and neighbors on Friday, August 20th, to see the featured movie "UP" to be shown at Aliso Viejo Town Center's Grand Park, from 7:30 to 10:00 PM. Dress warm and bring your low-back beach chair to view this PG-rated movie. Admission is free. Movie begins at dusk.
On Sunday, August 22nd, the next Summer Concert Series at Grand Park will feature "Lights", a Journey tribute band. Concert starts at 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Complimentary face painting and an opportunity drawing will be held.
