Snow Fest attracted thousands Saturday
Little Riley Jenson, 4, could barely contain her excitement as she watched people sled down the hills and make snow angels in the "Snow Man Park" during the City's Snow Fest on Saturday.
"Wow that's so neat," the youngster said while watching folks zip down the snow-covered "Grand Mountain" hill.
More than 1,200 people enjoyed watching and taking part in the City event that transformed the park at Aliso Viejo Town Center into a winter wonderland with 50 tons of snow.
It was quite a day. Under clear blue skies, kids and their parents alike enjoyed sledding down Grand Mountain and Bunny Hill and playing in the Snow Man Park. Local groups, business and non-profits offered up information and goods and a DJ kept the crowd moving and grooving to the latest tunes. More than 100 volunteers from Aliso Niguel High School's Key Club, Honor Society and Leo Club; Boy Scout Troop 700; and volunteers from the City's Community Volunteer Program helped to make the event a grand success.
For some youngsters, it was the first time seeing or playing in the snow. For others, it was a mini-vacation - without having to drive miles to get to the snow. For all who attended Snow Fest, it seemed to be a memorable experience and really good time.
Pete and Janet Choi were having lunch in Town Center when they strolled up the hill and saw the fun taking place.
What a wonderful event for the City to provide its residents," Janet Choi said, noting that next year she'll register to bring her 10-year-old son, Aiden, to the event.

Did you go to Snowfest at Grand Park?
Saturday January 22nd was the rain date for our annual snowfest day here at Grand Park. I didn't get a chance to take any photos but found a few of the set up time.
It's a great event and reservations are required because of the huge turnout!
